About me

Kia ora e hoa. I'm Lee.

I'm a neurodivergent creative therapist and coach on a mission to make therapy more creative, playful and human. I live in Tāmaki Makaurau with my partner, our kids and our dog Ludo, and try to get outside as much as I can, whether that is hiking, swimming, kayaking, running or just taking Ludo out to some of our beautiful west-coast beaches. At home you’ll likely find me out in the garden, tinkering with my latest project in the studio or curled up with a good book.

I'm a firm believer in the therapeutic capacity of nature, and the power of creativity as a catalyst for change.

My Qualifications & Experience

A dual-trained Therapist & Coach with decades of lived experience.

I am a registered clinical creative therapist and a certified coach. I hold a Masters Degree in Creative Arts Therapy, and have completed a qualification in Coaching for Transformation through the New Zealand Institute of Coaching, accredited by the ICF. I have also completed specific training on Neuro-affirming Practice, Child Safety and I am a qualified First Aider. I am police vetted and fully insured, and regularly work with various schools and organisations throughout Auckland.

I'm also autistic, and so I bring decades of neurodivergent lived experience to the table alongside my professional training. I know first-hand what it means to have lived your life in a world not designed for you, and how late-diagnosis as an adult can mean re-evaluating your past and re-examining every facet of your own identity and sense of self.

My Values

  • Curiosity is the key that unlocks everything else. All growth and learning starts with curiosity.
  • Empathy builds connection and understanding, and makes strong relationships possible.
  • Trust is foundational - essential for tackling those challenging conversations and doing the hard mahi.

"Lee has a strong compassion and kindness to see the best in people and to help them be the best they can. His desire to understand, curiosity to learn, thoroughness, openness and non-judgemental style makes people feel supported and cared for. I would highly recommend Lee to anyone who is looking for a trusted, supportive, and caring therapist or coach who can gently help people work through their issues and achieve their potential."

Lets kōrero

Reaching out or asking for help can often feel impossible, and so I've tried to make it super simple to get started.

The easiest way to get in touch is to send me a message. Or, if you're feeling brave and ready to get going, you can go ahead and book a free, 30 minute intro session right now. During those 30 minutes, we can talk through what is going on for you, what you'd like from our sessions, and we can see if we might be a good fit. No obligation, no pressure, and no charge.

Or, if you'd prefer, you can drop me an email at lee@leeyoung.co.nz and i'll get back to you as soon as I can.
